Productivity Tools

Hello fellow educators! It’s time for another post about digital resources for teaching and learning.
What can we do, as teachers, to help our students prepare to enter a workforce that relies heavily on digital resources to accomplish the work? The context of the modern work environment requires the use of many older and new digital tools for communication and organization. The demand on employees to master and integrate such tools can make many employees feel overwhelmed and anxious (Korzaan & Lawrence, 2016). Mobile devices and desktop and laptop computers are ubiquitous and grant constant access to professionals for collecting information, remember important events, and organizing and communicating with teammates. Teachers can assist students in learning to use digital productivity tools before they arrive in the workplace. Learning how to operate with and within digital productivity tools can prepare students for workplace expectations like cooperating, collaborating, and working on projects with teammates (Stephens & Roberts, 2017).
I’d like to mention two digital productivity tools to which educators could introduce students. The first is the suite of digital tools offered by Google including a cloud-based storage drive, word processing apps, calendars, survey instruments, and communication tools. Look at this video to learn more about the productivity tools in the Google suite (Tech, 2020).

Evernote is the next digital resource for productivity. Using Evernote, students can gain valuable productivity experience with tasks such as project management, writing, audio and image capture, the capture of web content, and creating notebooks.
Here is a video about using Evernote to help you help your students (Guald, 2021).

Have you used any digital productivity tools with students? Which ones did you use and how did it go? Please share in the comments!
